Counselling

Couples issues in individual therapy

When only one of you is in the chair — Jamie Blackall on relationship work that is still one-to-one.

What this can look like

A partner who will not come. A marriage that is logistics and silence. Affairs, resentment, or the question of whether to stay. You in the room; them in the story.

How counselling can help

Individual therapy is not couples therapy with an empty chair. We work with your part, your choices and your limits. I will not diagnose the person who is not here. Katie also works with relationship difficulties — pick the counsellor you can talk to.

When it is more than counselling

If there is violence or you are not safe at home, that is specialist and emergency support, not a communication tip.

This article is general information for people considering care at Health at Hart in Hartley Wintney. It is not a diagnosis, a prescription, or a promise of outcome. If you have sudden, severe or unexplained symptoms — including chest pain, unexplained weight loss, night pain, bowel or bladder changes, or a new neurological problem — seek urgent medical advice (NHS 111 or 999). UK osteopaths are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council. Counsellors named here are BACP-registered where stated. Always check with your GP or insurer if you are unsure whether a treatment is appropriate for you.
