Osteopathy

Head, neck and shoulders as one system

Why Steve Hall rarely treats a headache, a stiff neck and a tight shoulder as three separate problems.

Hands treating the ribcage and mid-back

The body keeps the score in tissues, not in departments

A clinic that only treats the bit that hurts will miss the bit that is not moving. The shoulder blade sits on the ribcage. The neck sits on the thorax. If you only rub the sore muscle, it comes back.

A typical combined picture

Desk work, a slightly locked upper back, a neck that does all the turning, and a headache by Thursday. Treatment might include the thorax, the neck, and advice on screens — not a dozen cranial techniques for their own sake.

Your job between visits

Notice the first hour that symptoms start, not only the evening they peak. That information is more useful than another scan in many mechanical cases. Bring it to the next appointment.
