Joints that clunk, a history of sprains, fatigue after sitting. Some people have a heritable syndrome — that is a medical diagnosis. Many are simply at the bendy end of normal.

What we can do in clinic

I do not stretch hypermobile people for sport. We look for control, neighbouring stiffness that they overwork, and a physio plan for strength. Aggressive manipulation is the wrong tool.

Red flags and when to see your GP

Dislocations, autonomic symptoms, or suspected connective tissue disease belongs with a GP and appropriate specialists.
