Osteopathy or physiotherapy: how to choose at Health at Hart

Steve Hall and Deborah Bateson work under one roof. A clear guide to who to book first for back pain, sports injury, shockwave or cranial osteopathy.

Physiotherapy in a bright clinic

You should not have to guess

Health at Hart exists so you can see osteopathy, physiotherapy, acupuncture and counselling in one village clinic. If you are unsure, email the clinic or phone. We would rather point you to the right diary than fill the wrong one.

A simple way to think about it

Book osteopathy with me if your main need is hands-on assessment of back, neck, headache, or a whole-body mechanical picture, including cranial osteopathy and pregnancy-related aches. Book Deborah if you need rehabilitation after a sports injury, shockwave or laser as part of a physio plan, or a structured exercise programme.

There is overlap. A stiff back with a weak hip might need both, at different times. We will not duplicate care for the sake of it.

Insurance and GP letters

Check your insurer before you attend. Some policies need a GP referral. Payment is at the end of each session.

This article is general information for people considering care at Health at Hart in Hartley Wintney. It is not a diagnosis, a prescription, or a promise of outcome. If you have sudden, severe or unexplained symptoms — including chest pain, unexplained weight loss, night pain, bowel or bladder changes, or a new neurological problem — seek urgent medical advice (NHS 111 or 999). UK osteopaths are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council. Counsellors named here are BACP-registered where stated. Always check with your GP or insurer if you are unsure whether a treatment is appropriate for you.
