You may have no symptoms until a fracture. Height loss, a newly stooped thoracic spine, or pain after a minor bump are clues. Many people only find out on a DEXA scan arranged by their GP.
Treatment is lighter. High-velocity thrusting through a fragile spine is not what I do. Cranial and gentle articulatory work, plus advice on walking and falls, is the safer frame. Vitamin D and bone medicines stay with your doctor.
Acute vertebral fracture pain after a cough or a trip needs medical assessment. I will not treat “through” an undiagnosed fracture.

If you have sudden, severe or unexplained symptoms — including chest pain, unexplained weight loss, night pain, bowel or bladder changes, or a new neurological problem — seek urgent medical advice (NHS 111 or 999). UK osteopaths are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council. Counsellors named here are BACP-registered where stated. Always check with your GP or insurer if you are unsure whether a treatment is appropriate for you.
