First-step pain in the morning — osteopathy, calf load, and when Deborah’s shockwave physiotherapy is more useful.

A bruise-like pain under the heel as you get out of bed. It eases, then sulks after a supermarket shop. Calf tightness and unsupportive summer shoes are frequent co-stars.
I look at calf, foot and how the hip shares load. Stretching a hot fascia aggressively often flares it. Load management and, if it persists, physio with possible shockwave is an honest pathway.
A sudden snap in the calf, or a heel that cannot take any weight after a jump, needs medical assessment for tear or fracture.
